In a tubular reactor, the dehydrogenation of ethane to yield ethylene as the desired product (R1) takes place simultaneously to other two side-reactions (R2 and R3), resulting in methane and propylene as sub-products, C2​H6​(g)→C2​H4​(g)+H2​(g)C2​H6​(g)+H2​(g)→2CH4​(g)C2​H4​(g)+C2​H6​(g)→C3​H6​(g)+CH4​(g)​ R1  R2  R3 ​ The process is designed to produce n˙C2​H4​( g), out ​=15kmol⋅hr−1 of ethylene, with a fractional yield of YC2​H4​(g)​=0.4. The selectivity of methane respect to hydrogen production is fixed to Calculate: (i) Fractional conversion of ethane, αC2​H6​(g)​.
