A parabolic vertical curve (with equal tangent lengths) is to connect a 1.5% gradient to a −1.0% gradient on a highway. The K value is 55 and the minimum required length is to be used. The reduced level and through chainage of the intersection point of the gradients are 93.60 metres and 671.34 meters respectively. i) Calculate the through chainage of each tangent point of the vertical curve if minimum required length is used. ii) Calculate the reduced levels of the tangent points. (5 marks) iii) Calculate the reduced levels at exact 20 metres multiples of through chainage along the curve. (10 marks)
