a) The following table (Table 6) lists in order of magnitude the largest recorded discharge of a river with a drainage area of 12560 km2. Compute return periods and probabilities for annual series. Plot the annual series on Gumbel probability paper. Estimate the discharge for a flood with a probability of once in 200 years. (Apply Gringorten Formula :Tr= m−0.44n+0.12 ) (b) For a sample of 9 compute the Weibull, Hazen, and Cunnane plotting probabilities and the corresponding return periods for the largest and smallest ranks.
