Using Darcy's Law, calculate the rate (l/day) of groundwaterflowing perpendicular into a river (125m in length), the seepagevelocity and the contaminant flow rate (kg/day).
The aquifer is 2.5 m thick, hydraulic conductivity is 5.5 x10^-3 cm/sec, the ground water level difference is 0.8 m betweentwo wells towards the river and the distance is 75 m and the soilporosity is 0.25. The average contaminant concentration is 300 mg/Lin the aquifer.
In addition, if the contamination initially occurs at the firstwell upstream, how long will it take to go to the second well?
