You have been approached by the Hello Holidays owner to design anew system to support their business. Hello Holidays is a travelcompany based in Selangor. They specialize in organising day tripsto various destinations in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, or otherplaces. Customers of Hello Holidays include individuals,institutions such as schools, universities, organizations,private/public companies, etc. They hire coaches with drivers fortrips that are organized and arranged, especially for them. Themanager of Hello Holidays is responsible for the allocation ofcoaches and drivers for trips. Trip records are created when tripsare arranged. If a customer (for whom a trip is being arranged) is‘new’ then the customer’s details are recorded. Otherwise, thecustomer’s record is updated. Customers will typically request thata day trip be organized for them on a specific date. The number ofcoaches allocated to a trip depends on the number of seatsrequired. In response to this request, the Hello Holidays managerwill check to see if the required can be made available on thatdate. If the coaches are available, the manager will allocate oneor more drivers and create a trip record for the customer.
Customers are allowed to cancel a trip before a deposit is paid.The deposit should be paid within 7 days of the booking for thetrip being made. If a trip is cancelled after that, the deposit iskept by Hello Holidays. If a trip is cancelled the trip record willrecord this. Hello Holidays will request full payment for a trip inthe week before it takes place. In certain periods the HelloHolidays has some promotional coupons that are usually between 10%and 15% of the stated trip price but maybe also differentpercentages. Customers can use each coupon code only once withinthe stated coupon period.
Moreover, the manager should be able to generate exclusivereports about the profits, operations, and expenses statuses at anytime. Besides, to build trust and reputation, customers may reviewtheir trip, coach, and driver after each trip is complete.
The Hello Holidays owner has allocated RM 80,000 for the projectand the estimated timeline is four (4) months. You are required toplan, analyse, design, and develop a prototype for their newsystem.
*Note: You are not only limited to the above requirements.Any other relevant requirements to ease the process of managingthe Hello Holidays operations can be added if you thinkthey are viable.
TASKS:
Assume that you are a software developmentconsultant, hired to advise Hello Holidays on efficient developmentapproaches for their project.
You are required to document the following:
1. ProjectPlanning
1.1. Introduction -Provide a brief introduction to the Hello Holidays including itsstakeholders, users, current business process, etc.
1.2. Problem Statements– Discuss the existing business problems of the Hello Holidays.
1.3. Suggested System –Briefly explain the suggested system that you would propose for theabove project. Include a conceptual diagram to show your initialidea of the new system (you may use any diagram such as a RichPicture, Context Diagram, etc).
1.4. Scope, Objectives –Define the Scopes and Objectives for the project.
1.5. Project Scheduling- Create a project schedule (such as a Gantt Chart) according toone of the system development methodologies that you have suggestedin Part 2.2 below. Clearly show the duration, tasks (andsub-tasks), and predecessor (parallel, sequential, iterative, ifany) recommended for the project.
