Consider the one-way slab with overhang shown in the figure The slab supports the superimposed dead load (does not include self-weight) and live load shown in the figure. All the loads are specified (unfactored) and you are to consider 1.25D + 1.5L and a 1 m wide slab design strip:
a) Draw the shear (V) and moment (M) diagrams.
Note: Use the beam load table shown on the next page
b) Check that the slab is thick enough to provide adequate shear resistance without stirrups.
Note: Do not revise the design if it does not pass
c) Using 15M bars, specify a spacing for the main tension steel in the positive moment region.
Note: use z=0.9d, but then check Mr at the end. Make sure your design meets the Asmin and smax requirements in the CSA A23.3-19 standard.
d) Using 15M bars, specify a spacing for the main tension steel in the negative moment region.
Note: use z=0.9d, but then check Mr at the end. Make sure your design meets the Asmin and smax requirements in the CSA A23.3-19 standard.
e) Using 15M bars, specify a spacing for the shrinkage steel.
f) Show a neat sketch of your slab design and reinforcement layout
40 = 2.0 KPa (superimposed dead load, does not include self-weight) 9. = 4.8 kPa (live load) 1 h = 275 mm А B C 1 m slab strip 6000 mm 2000 mm A = pin B = roller f'c = 25 MPa Fy = 400 MPa Max aggregate = 20 mm Clear cover = 20 mm 15M bars (no stirrups) Note: w (in KN/m) = q x1m
