Some believe this is related to the transition state for the reaction: H3​Si−SiH3​→SiH4​+SiH2​ is The activation energy for this process is ≈210 kJ/mol, which is less than the bond energy for both S−Si& Si-H bonds. A similar mechanism is NOT proposed to play a role in the decomposition of long chains of C atoms. Why?
