2. (20 points) Consider the part, made of aluminium, shown in Figure 2. a) (12 points) Design an in-bowl orientation and rejection device for a vibratory bowl feeder handling this part. Only one orientation should pass through the device to the delivery chute while all other orientations are rejected back into the bowl. Justify the orientation that you select, assuming that it will be delivered to the next station via a feedtrack. Sketch the solution (be sure to include critical dimensions) and clearly explain how the device operates. Hint: Read through the requirements of the remaining questions in this assignment. Your selected orientation should be suitable for use by each of the other system components. b) (3 points) Sketch a suitable feedtrack for this part, showing how parts oriented in Part (a) will move from the bowl feeder to a workhead. c) (5 points) Could an alternate type of hopper feeder (i.e., non-vibrating) be used to extract this part in a consistent orientation from bulk store?
