An isolated 11kV network is shown in Figure 2. A company has theintention of connecting a Wind Generator to Busbar B of this radialnetwork as shown in the Figure.
Assume a voltage base of 11kV and a power base of 100MVA. Assumethat the distribution network and the Wind Generator are operatingat nominal voltage and the load current is negligible.
The fault level at Busbar A is 2000MVA at 11kV.
The feeder impedance is j0.3pu and the synchronous generatorproposed for use in the wind generator has a synchronous reactanceof j0.1pu.
a) Calculate the source reactance of the distribution networkconnection.
b) Draw a single line diagram of the system
c) Calculate the magnitude of the fault current if a three phasebalanced fault occurs at Busbar A with and without the WindGenerator connected.
d) Calculate the magnitude of the fault current if a three phasebalanced fault occurs at Busbar B with and without the WindGenerator connected.
