Explore the muscles' response to intermittent contractions andsustained contractions. Materials needed: squeeze (stress) ball (ortennis ball). Though you will feel some discomfort/fatigue, youshould NOT feel pain. Please stop the activity if you feelpain.
1. Intermittent contractions: Sitting quietly, grasp squeezeball. At the start signal, squeeze and release, once per seconduntil you are unable to continue. Time how long this takes. Writethe amount of time here.
2. Rest one minute, then repeat with the other hand. Write theamount of time here.
3. Sustained Contractions: Return ball to the original hand. Atthe start signal, squeeze the ball and hold the squeezecontinuously until you are unable to continue. Time how long thistakes. Write the amount of time here.
4. Rest one minute, then repeat with the other hand. Write theamount of time here.
