GENETIC ANALYSIS 4.3 PROBLEM Dr. Ara B. Dopsis, a famous plant geneticist, decides to try his hand at iris propagation. He selects two pure-breeding irises, one red and the other blue, and crosses them. To his surprise, all F1 plants have purple flowers¹. He decides to create more purple irises by self-fertilizing the F₁ irises. Dr. Dopsis produces 320 F₂ plants consisting of 182 with purple flowers, 59 with blue flowers, and 79 with red flowers². (
