Question 7 (2 points) Why is a microarray a better choice for an experiment to determine what changes in transcription occur in liver cells from diabetic patients that have been stimulated with glucose compared to control cells that were not stimulated? Northern blots are too expensive & complex to carry out in a laboratory; microarrays are cheap. RT-PCR experiments only examine changes to the DNA sequence in affected cells. Microarrays examine expression on a global scale not easily achievable by other approaches. RT-PCR experiments do not require knowledge of the nucleic acid sequence of targets; microarray experiments do not require this information None of these microarrays are not a better choice for this experiment.
