PART II-Complex RC circuits - charging a capacitor L 9. In the Falstad simulation construct a circuit as follows, 2 resistors, 2 capacitors and a battery. Important this is a charging circuit. You need to figure out how to determine the time constant t by looking at the current increasing to a factor of e. R₂ R1=5 kn, R2 = 8 kn, C1 = 5 uf, C2 = 15 µf, ε = 110 V. 10. Outline a series of measurements you need to take in order to calculate t. 11. You might want think about the following: What is the Starting current? What time is the final time? Record your measured values similar to steps 5 through 8 above. 12. Now calculate the value by using t = RC = T= ReqCeg R1 and R2 are in series so... 1/Req=1/R1+1/R2 = (R2 + R1)/(R1R2) -> Req = (R1R2)/ (R2 + R1) = 3.076kΩ C1 and C2 are in parallel then... Ceq=C1 + C2 = 20µF T= RegCeq = (3.076 * 10-^3) (20*10^-6) = 61.54 *10^-3 sec or 61.54mS 13. How do they compare?.
