Problem 3 (30 pts).: Select a single channel tension member, A36 steel, to resist the service loads PD= 80 k and PL 120 k. The member is 18 ft long and is to be connected to a % in. thick gusset plate using two lines of three %-in. bolts in standard holes, 4 in. on center, in its web. Sketch the connection to aid yourself with the calculations. Neglect block shear, and make sure to verify the slenderness limit.
