Note: Questions 1 to 4 have thesame given information – consider them parts of the sameproblem. The weights of ingredients in SSDstate for making 1 cyd of concrete are givenbelow:Water: 270 lb; Cement: 732 lb; Coarse Aggregates: 1,983 lb; FineAggregates: 1,000 lbMoisture content of both coarse and fine aggregates inthe stock is −0.5%, and absorptioncapacity of both coarse and fine aggregates is 3%.
Q.1 Determine the oven-dry weight of aggregates(Wa) (coarse +fine) for the purpose of computing the temperature ofconcrete.
Q.2 Determine the weight of water in the aggregates(Wwa) (in coarse and fine aggregatescombined) for the purpose of computing the temperature ofconcrete.
Q.3 Determine the weight of mix water(Ww) for the purpose of computing thetemperature of concrete. Note:Ww is adjusted weight of water (adjusted foraggregate moisture) that we compute in Step 9 of concrete mixdesign.
Q.4 Determine the temperature of the aggregates(Ta) needed to achieve a fresh concretetemperature (Tconcrete) of 63°F. Assume that the coarseand fine aggregates are at the same temperature (Ta).Given, the temperature of water is 60°F and the temperature ofcement is 70°F.
