The beam is constructed from three boards. (Figure 1). The allowable shear stress that the wood can sustain is τallow=450 psi. Each nail can support a shear force of 330 lb. Determine the maximum shear V that the beam can support,Determine the maximum allowable spacing s of the nails used to hold the top flange to the web, and Determine the maximum allowable spacing s of the nails used to hold the bottom flange to the web.
