Combustion gases enter the nozzle section of a jet engine with a mass flow rate of 150 kg/s and at a pressure of 1.2 MPa and velocity of 80 m/s. The gas pressure and velocity at the exit of the nozzle are also 100 kPa and 1200 m/s, respectively. Calculate the anchoring force (in x-direction) required to keep the engine stationary, in kN. Note: the given pressures are absolute and the atmospheric pressure is 100 kPa. V₁-80 m/s Pi= 1.2 MPa A₁=2 m² m = 150 kg/s Pa = 100 kPa V-1200 m/s P. = 100 kPa A, 1 m²
