the patient has a history of diabetes Mellitus hypertension and atherosclerotic heart disease he has developed some diabetic nephropathy and Gastro paresis because of his condition he has begun to lose some kidney function on his glomerular filtration rate it is 30ml/min greatly reduced. Due to his kidney insufficiency he is spilling Protane into his urine leaving his body depleted on Protein and so his serum albumin level is 2.2 he is preparing for surgery so he has been placed on NPO.
