3. Two synchronous motors are connected to a motorbus, which is serviced by a transmission line of reactance 0.023 ohm. The motors have sub transient reactance values of 0.8 pu and 0.25 pu, both on the same base of 480 volts and 2000 KVA. The line is fed from a generator rated 480 volts with sub transient reactance 0.208pu. For an instant in time, a three phase symmetrical short circuit occurs on the motor bus and simultaneously the motor bus voltage drops to 440 volts.
