Poisons are used to prevent rat damage in sugarcane fields. TheU.S. Department of Agriculture is investigating whether rat poisonshould be located in the middle of the field or on the outerperimeter. One way to answer this question is to determine wherethe greater amount of damage occurs. If damage is measured by theproportion of cane stalks that have been damaged by the rats, howmany stalks from each section of the field should be sampled inorder to estimate the true difference between proportions of stalksdamaged in the two sections, to within 0.02 with 90% confidence?(Assume equal number of stalks will be sampled from eachsection)
