1. Can superman accelerate/gain momentum when he flies?
2. Why does Louis Lane fall, and everything else rise?
3. In the first of the Superman movies with Christopher
Reeve, superman flies around Earth in the opposite
direction of its rotation. As he flies faster and faster
the Earth’s rotation slows down and then rotates ever faster in the
opposite direction. Granting Superman his powers, and that he does
not interact with anything except the Earth, what should have
happened?
a) The Earth should have slowed its rotation and stopped!
b) The Earth should have increased its rotation in the usual direction!
c) The Earth’s angular momentum should have increased!
d) The Earth’s angular momentum should have decreased!
e) I give up!
