2. Air with mass flow rate of 10 kg/s enters the compressor of a gas turbine engine operating with the air-standard Brayton cycle at 110 kPa and 25°C. The pressure ratio across the compressor is 12:1. The maximum temperature of the cycle is 1300 °C and the isentropic efficiencies are 85% for both compressor and turbine. Sketch the cycle on a T-s diagram and determine: a) the turbine actual exit temperature (K) b) the net power output of the cycle (MW) c) the thermal efficiency of the cycle (%) and d) the effectiveness (e) of a regenerator required to be installed into the gas turbine engine to obtain the new thermal efficiency up to 40%. (Given that for air, specific heat capacity, Cp = 1.005 kJ/kg.K, C = 0.718 kJ/kg/K, R = 0.287 kJ/kg.K and specific heat ratio, k = 1.4 are constant throughout the cycle)
