EEE 302 Simulation Project Assignments • Each person needs to complete the simulation model of their selected circuit and the controller type, compare the model based results and submit a report. You need to design a closed loop system to control the speed of an electric vehicle motor. • You need to select the circuit (buck or boost converter see in below links) to adjust the voltage and the motor by yourself. • You can use any simulation software to design LTSpice, PSpice, Multisim, and Proteus; however MATLAB/Simulink or PLECS are suggested. You need to control the speed of the motor by adjusting its voltage. Please generate 3 different speeds; 12000 (0-20 sec), 16000 (20-40 sec), 18000 (40-60 secs) rpms in each 20 seconds. Therefore the total simulation time should be 60 seconds. • • Use three different controller types: PD, PI and PID to achieve overshoot no more than 15% and settling time around 3 seconds. (If you cannot achieve with any of the controller, explain why) • Calculate the constants (Kp, Ki, Kd) by using state space equivalence of your circuit or using any tunning methods in control theory such as Ziegler-Nichols method. Please design your reports in a good structure and keep it as clear as possible. • Page length should not be more than 3. Comparison tables would be useful for simple explanation of controllers and their dynamic performances. • The operation of the motor in the simulation will need show a torque control and you need to model a disturbance as a hill climb for the car between 25th to 35th seconds. The torque control should maintain the speed at constant 16000 rpm. • You will need to show and verify your outcomes based on your simulation results.
