1. i) Plot the I-V characteristics of a Zener diode( Both over Multisim and over Protoboard). Perform Dc sweep and plot the data on Matlab to obtain the graph. From above define and determine the forward knee voltage and Zener breakdown voltage. 2. Implement the circuit for a Full Wave rectifier over protoboard and record the output from the oscilloscope. 3. Implement the Voltage Regulation circuit using Zener diodel Both over protoboard and Multisinm). For the implementation, follow the steps as mentioned in the manual. Report Compile a short report( typically 2-3 pages) which includes just the following:
Week 2 Characterization of a Zener Diode. (1) Simulate Figure 5 in MultiSim -10mA to 10mA dc ld 02 1N4735 Vz-6.2 V Figure 5: Zener Diode Characterization (2) Perform a DC Sweep on the current source going from ID = -10mA through ID=10mA in increments of 0.01 mA. This simulation will allow you to see both the forward bias voltage as well as the Zener breakdown voltage. Save the voltage across the diode, VD, and the diode current, Id, (as text and as a graph). Save the schematic (3) Load the data into MATLAB. Plot the I-V curve (ID vs. VD) of the diode and save the graph to be imported into your report. Plot ID on the Y axis and VD on the X axis. (4) Determine the forward "knee voltage". Determine the Zener breakdown voltage.
