Q2 (6 Points): The bar shown below is composed of three different sections: Section A, Section B, and Section C. In these three sections, the bar has different cross sections and materials. As a result of the differences in the bar sections, when loaded with a tensile force P, the bar does not stretch equally in each section. Rather, Section A elongates by 4.2 mm, Section B elongates by 4.6 mm, and Section C experiences an average normal tensile strain of 0.0030 mm/mm. Section A Section B 2.3 m Section C 4.5 m (a) Calculate the average normal tensile strain in Section A and B. (b) Calculate how much Section C elongates. (c) Calculate the average normal tensile strain of the entire bar. (Hint: what is 8 and L? Don't add the strains together.)
