A 4-year-old Holstein dairy cow in peak lactation is losing bodyweight at a faster rate than desired. The farmer has asked for yourhelp in rebalancing the cow's ration. The cow needs a ration thatprovides 2.65 Mcal/kg of metabolizableenergy. The feed will be provided as a total mixed ration (TMR)with the forage/roughage mixed with the concentrate, and at least50% of the TMR needs to be forage/roughage for rumenhealth.
