A 21-year-old male was brought into the emergency room withcomplaints that he was feeling faint and had shortness of breath.There were no other signs or symptoms, but his girlfriend didmention the patient has been having a lot of anxiety over anupcoming final. An arterial blood gas was ordered and had thefollowing results:
pH = 7.48
pCO2 = 33 mm Hg
Po2 = 92 mm Hg
HCO3 = 24 mmol/L
