Help! I answered (e) "Mesonephric duct" but it wasmarked WRONG)
Do you think there was there an error in grading or is there adifferent right answer? Here are my lecture notes about this topic.Thank you.
The gonads of both males and females began to developduring week 5 as masses of intermediate mesoderm called the gonadalridges, which form bulges on the dorsal abdominal wall in thelumbar region just medial to the mesonephros. The mesonephricducts, the future male ducts, develop medial to the paramesonephricducts, the future female ducts. In male embryos, differentiationbegins in week 7. Testes cords grow from the gonadal surface intothe inner part of the gonad, where they connect to the mesonephricduct via nephrons that become the efferent ductules. With furtherdevelopment, the mesonephric duct becomes the major male sex duct:epididymis, ductus deferens, and ejaculatory duct. Theparamesonephric ducts play no part in male development and soondegenerate.
