am an associate scientist in the Cell and ProteinSciences department in R&D at the Abbvie Bioresearch Center(ABC) in Worcester, MA. My role in the company is one of two (soonto be three) cell line development researchers in R&D in adepartment known as Cell, Gene, and Protein Engineering. Ourmini-CLD team is a separate faction from the CLD team inmanufacturing sciences because we work to support early and latediscovery programs for biologics research. My function is todevelop stable cell lines expressing complex membrane proteintargets that we can then transfer to the project teams that areworking on bringing new biologic drugs to clinical trial. There areso many ways we can use cell lines in biologics discovery and whileI may not be a total expert in CLD (yet)
