Water at 110°C and quality 0.3 (state 1) is contained in a spring-loaded piston- cylinder device with an initial volume of 1.5 m². The system is heated, causing the piston to rise and encounter a linear spring, as shown in figure. At this point (state 2) the volume is 3 m². The heating continues, so the piston compresses the spring until all the water becomes saturated vapor at 125 kPa (state 3). If the piston diameter is 0.6 m, and the spring constant is 800 N/m, neglecting the weight of the piston and the friction between the piston and the cylinder wall, determine H2O
a- the pressure of the water at the initial state (state 1),P,= |kPa (10pts) b- the quality of the water at state 2, X2 = (10pts) C- the temperature of the water at the state 3, T3 = C (10pts) d- the volume at state 3, V3 = m3 (10pts) e-the spring force at state 3, Fspring N (15pts) f- the work done by the water, W13 = kJ (15pts) g- the heat transferred to the water, Q13 = kJ (15pts)
h- the p-v diagram for the process. Do not forget to show all three states, process path, saturated liquid line, saturated vapor line and constant temperature lines on the diagram. (15 pts.)
