Mr. Bowden is a 58-year-old male with a history of hypertension
and uncontrolled type 1 diabetes admitted today from his provider’s
office. He sought care for a left foot wound he sustained when he
fell over some gardening tools last week. He has been treating the
wound at home but has noticed increasing redness and swelling in
his foot.

Mr. Bowden is married and currently out of work due to the closing
of the auto factory plant where he worked for over 20 years. He has
been drinking heavily over the past few months, and his wife is
worried about this but very supportive. His home medications
include lisinopril, atentolol, Lantus insulin, and Humalog
insulin.
