The impact of human activities on earth's climate has been atopic of debate for decades. Below are examples ofstatistics/graphics posted to support different arguments on thesubject matter.
Graphic#1: According tothe 2012 National Climate Report conducted by National Oceanic andAtmospheric Administration (NOAA), the contiguous UnitedStated (CONUS) average annual temperature of 55.3 F was 3.2 F abovethe 20th century average, and 2012 was the warmest year for thenation in the 1895-2012 period of record. This report was viewed asanother evidence that global temperatures are rapidly increasingand the graphic below was created to emphasize the issue. Note: Thegraphic below was not created by NOAA.
Your Task
Take the position of a skeptic to comment on why factsreported by NOAA might not be appropriately used ((deliberately ornot) in the graphic below.
Graphic#2: Climatescientists observed a slowdown in the rate of average globalsurface warming that took place from 1998–2012. While the risein global mean surface air temperature has continued, between 1998and 2012 the increase was approximately one third of that from 1951to 2012. This information and other relevant statistics are oftenreferenced to disprove global warming, and the graphic below wascreated to support the argument.
