Dye sensitized solar cell (DSSC) is a promising method forconverting solar energy into electrical energy. Device solar cellsmade using a dark green copper(II)-N.N.bis(salicylidene)ethylenediamine was found to improve itsperformance, thus This complex can function as a color sensitizer(dye sensitizer). As for Solar power efficiency to electricity fromcomplex dye sensitized solar cells copper is 0.12% (Ghann, et al.,2017, Journal of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering, 5,46-66).
The results of the H-NMR and C-NMR analysis showed that thisgreen solid consisted of only oneN.N-bis(salicylidene)ethylenediamine ligand, while the TGA analysisdid not find any water hydrate. Meanwhile, the results of theUV-vis spectrum of the green solution of the product which isexpected to form a Cu(ID-.N'-bis(salicylidene) ethylenediaminecomplex (red line) compared to free N.N.bis(salicylidene)ethylenediamine (blue line) is shown in the figurebelow. :
1. Supported by NMR and TGA results, can it be confirmed fromthe UV-vis spectrum above that the Cu(II)-N.N'-bis (salicylidene)ethylenediamine complex has been formed? Describe in detailinclude:a) explain the color of the reactants and products (6 points)b) explain the difference in maximum wavelength absorption of thespectrum of the ligand and product (complex), as well as thedifference in intensity (10 points)c) Determination of the energy diagram of the crystal fieldstabilization (A) before and after the formation of theCu(II)-N.N'-bis(salicylidene )ethylenediamine complex product (4points)
.2. Draw a rough estimate of the XPS spectra of a single electronemitted from the 2p orbital of the Cu(II) nucleus in theCu(II-N.N'-bis(salicylidene )ethylenediamine complex, including:a) Number of peaks (2 points)b) Presence or absence of satellites and plasmons (4 points)c) Spin-orbit coupling symbol of each peak (4 points)
