Josephina is a 12-year-old, Hispanic female living in New YorkCity. Josephina has been in foster care since she was 10 years olddue to her biological father not being present (she does not knowwho he is), and her mother’s ongoing struggles with drug addiction.Josephina has three younger siblings at a different foster homethat she sees once a month on a supervised visit, where she alsosees her mother occasionally.
Josephina earns As and Bs at school. However, she gets introuble regularly for behavioral issues such as fighting with herpeers, talking back to her teacher, and sometimes, leaving theschool without permission. Josephina’s foster mother and fathercare for her deeply and she has been in their home for twoyears.
Recently, her foster parents have requested that she receive anew foster care placement ASAP due to their struggles with managingJosephina’s behavior at school, as well as the care that theyprovide to their two younger biological children and an additionalchild in foster care in the home that is older thanJosephina.
