Loftus and Palmer (1974) asked participants to watch a shortfilm depicting a motor vehicle accident. After the film, theparticipants were asked one of five questions. The five questionswere: How fast were the cars going when they smashed each other?How fast were the cars going when they collided with each other?How fast were the cars going when they bumped each other? How fastwere the cars going when they hit each other? How fast were thecars going when they contacted each other? They found that
a) allows us to generalize life event to specificdetails.
