Consider a combined gassteam power plant that has a net output of 486 MW. The pressure ratio of the gasturbine cycle is 11.3. Air enters the compressor at 300K and the turbine at 1377K. The combustion gases leaving the gas turbine are used to heat thewater to saturated vapor in a heat exchanger. The combustion gasesleave the heat exchanger at 420K. The steam enters thesteam turbine at 5 barand 400oC. The condenser pressure is 10 kPa. Assuming isentropic efficiencies of 100% for the pump, 83% for the compressor, and 77% for the gas and steam turbines, determine:
(i)The mass flow ratio of air to steam;
(ii)The required rate of heat input in the combustion chamber, and
(iii)The thermal efficiency of the combined.
Please consider the different values forthe isentropic efficiencies and explain the steps. Iwould truly appreciate it!
