Learning GOAL You should be able to identify several of the most fundamental textures in different igneous materials. This is an essential skill used in classifying igneous materials. A All of the photographs in Fig. A5.1.1 show specimens of different igneous materials at nearly their actual size. In the space below each photograph, describe the texture of each specimen using one or two of the following terms: aphanitic fragmental glassy pegmatitic phaneritic porphyritic vesicular These terms are defined in the text section Textures of Igneous Materials. The same term might be used more than once or not at all. If a particular specimen has any mineral grains at all, the size of most of its grains is described as greater than (>) or less than (<) 0.25 mm. average grain size > 0.25 mm Texture(s): average grain size <0.25 mm Texture(s): Texture(s): Texture(s): average grain size > 30 mm Texture(s): average grain size < 0.25 mm average grain size < 0.25 mm Texture(s): Texture(s): average grain size < 0.25 mm Texture(s): average grain size > 0.25 mm
