ACTIVITY CONCEPT OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE
Aim: To explore living and non-living things in the schoolenvironment Introduction:
The term 'environmental science' refers to a grouping ofscientific disciplines that are all concerned with the physical, chemical and biological characteristics of the surroundings inwhich organisms live. We can find many things around us, from lakesand rivers to plants and animals. The environment in which we liveis made up of several things. These “things” can be categorizedinto two different types – Living and Non-living Things. All livingthings breathe, eat, grow, move, reproduce and have senses.Non-living things do not eat, grow, breathe, move and reproduce. They do not have senses. Living things have “life,” though somemight not show its evident signs. For instance, a tree wouldprobably not react the same way a human would. It would not reactwhen we hit it, and it might not be able to walk around. Though thesigns of life displayed by them are not very observable, it doesnot make them non-living.
