Ruth Gavinson lists a few ways that privacy is necessary orconducive to human flourishing (e.g., privacy promotes liberty ofaction). First, pick and describe one ofthese goods that privacy gives to us andargue either that masssurveillance would or that it wouldnot diminish privacy in a way that threatens this goodgiven the kind of mass government surveillance that would be neededto prevent citizens developing destructive technologies as in NickBostrom’s Vulnerable WorldHypothesis. Next, if you chose to arguethat mass surveillance would not diminish somegood of privacy, for your response to another student find andrespond to someone who argues that masssurveillance would diminish some good. If youargued mass surveillance would diminish somegood in your initial post, respond to a student who arguedit would not diminish some good. (You do nothave to also find a student discussing the same good that youdo.)
