Initially, Raymond Santana, Kevin Richardson, and three otherteenagers were taken to the Central Park Precinct on the night ofApril 19, 1989, for unlawful assembly. They were told they would begiven a ticket to family court and sent home. Upon hearing that awoman had been raped and beaten in Central Park, however, thepolice began to aggressively question the teens with accusations oftheir involvement.
