Previous research has found that if an eyewitness described aperpetrator, they were less accurate in picking the perpetrator outof a subsequent lineup. A psychologist designs a study to examinethe factors that might influence accuracy of witness identificationin a police lineup. Specifically, the psychologist tests howdifferent types of intervening activity affect subsequent accuracyin lineup identification. In the control group, the interveningactivity involved reading a magazine article for 10 minutes. Oneexperimental group was presented with a series of stimuli, andparticipants engaged in a task that required them to concentrate onthe details. A second experimental group engaged in a task thatrequired concentration on more global aspects of stimuli. Thefrequency data for this study are as follows: Type of InterveningActivity Identification: Control Detail Global Successful 21 24 13Not Successful 9 6 17 (a) State your hypotheses using the correctnotation (H0 and Ha) (b) Determine the df; using α = .05, what is2 crit?
