The DIY Computer Company has agreed to supply its best customer with three coputers during each of the next 3 weeks, even though producing them will require some overtime work. The relevant production data are as follows: Week 1 2 3 Maximum Production, Regular Time 2 3 1 Maximum Production, Overtime 2 2 2 Production Cost per Unit Regular Time PhP 3000 Php5000 PhP4000 The cost per unit produced with overtime for each week is PhP 1000 more than for regular time. The cost of storage is PhP500 per unit for each week it is stored. There is already an inventory of two computers on hand currently, but the company does not want to retain any computer in inventory after the 3 weeks. Management wants to know how many units should be produced in each week to minimize the total cost of meeting the delivery schedule.
Use the following symbols as notation to your equation: Let X4 = decision variable at stage 4, for example S4 = state at stage 4, for example C4(X4) = production cost at regular time and overtime. f*4(....) = function of the optimal solution of previous stage 4, for example a) Define Stage. b) Define State. c) Define Alternative. d) What is the recursive equation at stage 3? e) What is the recursive equation at stage 2? f) What should be the feasible ranges of the beginning inventory of computer in Stage 3?
g) Determine the optimal cost of state 3 in stage 2. h) Determine the optimal units of state 3 in stage 3. i) Find the optimal policy as shown in the table. Week 1 2 3 X* Z= Cost Determine the optimal j) Is there an alternative solution? Answer Yes or No. number of computers to produce for each week. Use this format, for example, 2,3,4 in your answer. If none, put NA in your answer.
