Consider a normal shock wave in air. The flow upstream of the shock cor- responds to a standard altitude of 200,000 ft at a Mach number of 25. Calculate the chemical species distributions in the nonequilibrium region behind the shock, as a function of distance behind the shock front. Plot your results graphically. Assume that the chemical species present are N₂, O₂, N, and O. (We will ignore NO and any ionization.)
