1. Calculate the moment of inertia for the sections about the X-X axis and Y-Y axis. 2. Based on the numbers you obtained, what are the optimal section and orientation for the beam? 3. Vary the middle section X-X axis dimension and Y-Y axis dimensions and determine the % difference in the moment of inertia as compared to the original section. The change in dimensions should be at a decrement of 10mm 4. Draw graphs of the % change in moment of inertia against the change in dimension on the X-X axis and Y-Y axis
