For a steel alloy it has been determined that a carburizing heattreatment of 10-h duration will raise the carbon concentrationto 0.38 wt% at a point 2.9 mm from the surface. Estimatethe time (in h) necessary to achieve the same concentration ata 6.6 mm position for an identical steel and at the samecarburizing temperature.
