18. We know that liver cancer has multiple causes other than alcohol consumption, including chronic infection with hepatitis B. Using the definition of a confounder in the slides, list the 3 statements/criteria that would have to be true if we wanted to know if hepatitis B was a confounder in the relationship between alcohol consumption and liver cancer. Do you think hepatitis B meets these 3 criteria? Why or why not?
