In a golf game played in Ecuador (on the equator) a pitchshot is made in a northward direction. The ball is shot with 60degrees of loft (above horizontal) at a speed of 30m/s. How far isthe ball deflected from the expected landing site by the Coriolisforce? In which direction is the deflection? Please ignore anyinteraction with the atmosphere due to drag or the ball’s spin. Atreasonably slow speeds like this, that’s not a badapproximation.
