Arrange the socks (chromosomes) as they would appear in prophase of mitosis (remember, the cells have already gone through S phase). Then move the chromosomes through each stage of mitosis. Undo the centromeres when necessary so the chromatids can separate. Fill in the chart below as you mimic mitosis. Stage Prophase Metaphase Anaphase Telophase (after cytokinesis) Number of Chromosomes per cell Number of Chromatids (DNA molecules) per cell 2.
