Using your mouse, move the cylinder down until it almost touches the lower plate. If you accidentally hit the lower plate, move the cylinder back up to touch the upper plate and try again. While you are moving the cylinder toward the lower plate, observe the intensity of the charge separation. ▪ 9. Does the charge separation increase, decrease, or remain unchanged? ▪ 10. Explain the effect on charge separation as the cylinder approaches the lower plate.
