Weight: 97 lbs
Height: 5ft 1in
BMI: 18.3
Body Fat percentage: 18%
Competitive gymnastics athlete
Background:
She currently works out 6x week; 2 hours 1 cardio, 1 hour weight training.
Current eating habits: Eats extremely clean, refuses to eat of plan.
Client tells you that they are fine healthy and doesn't understand why everyone is concerned.
When you do your intake, you notice she has perfectionist qualities, thinks that her eating is superior.
She refuses to eat salt
When you ask her about what she eats, she is very vague and offers no detail.
You ask her to fill out a 24-hour recall, but she does not fill out the 24-hour recall as asked and insists she eats healthy. She comes across as irritable.
She does tell you that she has amenorrhea and had for about 6 months. she is not on birth control.
She is not willing to give up gymnastics.
Hormonal balance & sport specific:
-Gymnasts are often known to lose their menstrual cyle, discuss the complications of this for Nicole's future ( development of infertility should she want children, hormonal imbalances that lead to autoimmune disease)
- Discuss the impact of gymnastics on the body ( internally, externally ie. joint impact)
- How can you help her minimize these effects? Ie the supplement glucosamine is beneficial in joint support, incorporating flax & chia seeds into the food plan may help promote menstruation etc.
